Five Minute Friday & Today’s Soundtrack

Five Minute Friday
(I’m thrilled to be doing my first FMF ever!…The editor and the rambeler in my brain is nervous as heck to free-write…which of course means I have to do it…)  Today’s topic:
Beyond

This summer, my thoughts have been on overdrive as I contemplate my future plans.  My Godmother always quietly reminds me I have the not-always-helpful habit of thinking 3 steps ahead at all times.  While no one can say I’m not a planner, it’s not always the best thing for me.  I want to be more intentional about living in this beautiful moment, fully centered in my breath, completely present.  When I’m focused far beyond the now, I can’t enjoy the incredible gifts right in front of me.  The chance to learn and study and grow my mind.  The opportunity to complete a college degree I should have attained years ago.  The sweet moments with my husband where he gets that twinkle in his eye, and I am so happy we don’t have plans to run out the door.  The beautiful and soul-saving quiet of the room in our house I’ve now dubbed ‘the prayer room’…where I can sit with a cool cup of tea, reflect, pray, dream and create as my Creator and Savior has asked me to do…
When my thoughts are going beyond this moment, I don’t take the time to simple stop, to simply be…

(Kindly take a moment to push play on the link below…Children of Eden is such a beautiful musical, perfect for today’s soundtrack…and Stephanie Mills can tell us volumes about ‘beyond’ with a simple soar of a musical phrase…you know what they say, “Where words leave off, music begins…”

(ok, time’s up. it’s taking everything in me not to edit/bawk at bad writing/hit delete.)

Come on trigger finger…time to ‘publish post’.

  1. I absolutely love this line “I want to be more intentional about living in this beautiful moment, fully centered in my breath, completely present.” – that speaks volumes to me. I so feel the same way. I have enjoyed my first visit to your blog 🙂 I also enjoyed the wonderful music. Have a blessed day 🙂
