{31 Days of Playlists} Day 17…Epic Movie Scores

“I feel like soundtrack music is almost like seeing the movie  again, but with my ears.”

Dave Atell

This was such a fun playlist to put together!  From the biggie epics like Star Wars and E.T., to the ultimate chick-flick “Somewhere In Time”, to the quirky whimsy of “Sherlock Holmes” – hopefully you’ll find a movie melody that tickles your fancy.

  1. love it, Sarah! ALL such great picks! {If it tells you any more about us, my husband and I drove 3 hours out of the way on our honeymoon to catch a rehearsal John Williams led in Tanglewood! I kept thinking, “that brain wrote the Star Wars theme…”} Some other favorites…oh, where to start? Far & Away, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter, Pride & Prejudice! A great genre of music, for sure…

  2. I’m so glad you like the playlist. I know it’s a bit small in number of songs, and you mentioned so many good movies that I didn’t include…I knew if I put too many songs on it – I would try and make it mammothly large (did I just make up a term with my bad grammar? 😉 I stuck to the songs that I came back to again and again–some of my favorites like ‘Somewhere In Time’ (Paganini – gah! 🙂 and the ‘Grand Canyon’ theme (I don’t know why, but that movie really moved me, and that orchestral fanfare gives me goosebumps every time). Oh, and you would especially appreciate this! I found a youtube video of the BAYLOR wind ensemble performing the Grand Canyon fanfare that brought tears to my eyes – I listened over and over! I ALMOST put it at the end of this post, I may have to add it! Blessings to you, friend! (oh, and P.S. I LURVE that you and your hubs drove to a John Williams rehearsal – wow, I’m a little bit jealous! 🙂

  3. you had me at The Mission. It’s one of my all-time fav movies and soundtracks. my other fav is (going the complete opposite direction) That Thing You Do. The movie and music never get old, at least to me:)
