Mixtape Monday – A Playlist For Lent

I’ve been observing Lent this season in small ways this year…reading a slip of my friend’s book along with my journal and a hot cup of tea, giving up conveniences and vices as I’ve been led and sitting with the tension of the season.    Everything about this season for me feels a bit gray and melancholy with a light cloud covering–including the music.  Today’s been a snowy day in these parts…the wind howling and the thick snow flakes falling.  The promise of Easter’s sunlight and resurrection is a short month away, but I’m thankful for the chill in the air, wrestling through the slowness and the stretching of my spirit.

I’m finding great beauty in the music that is walking me through Lent.  Melodies that don’t resolve, lyrics that call for answers, solace and sometimes, just peace.
